Timo Werner considering Chelsea exit

Chelsea striker Timo Werner has had a torrid time at Stamford Bridge since his big-money move from RB Leipzig and the German international failed to live up to the expectations in the Premier League.

Thomas Tuchel decided to spend heavily on another striker this season at the Blues signed Romelu Lukaku in a club-record deal from Inter Milan.

As a result of that, Werner has fallen down the pecking order and he has had to make do with cameos as a wide forward.

According to Telegraph, the German international could look to leave Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens and a return to the Bundesliga is definitely on the cards.

The 25-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and he cannot afford to sit on the bench at Chelsea every week.

With the World Cup coming up, Werner will be desperate for game time and staying at Chelsea could hurt his chances of starting for Germany next year.

The 25-year-old was one of the most exciting attacking talents across Europe during his time at RB Leipzig and a return to Germany would help him recapture his form and confidence.

The player has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the past and it will be interesting to see if the Bavarian giants are willing to provide him with an escape route in the coming months.

Lukaku is undoubtedly the first choice striker for Chelsea now and Werner is unlikely to usurp the Belgian and hold down a starting berth at Stamford Bridge.

The player is reportedly assessing his future in the Premier League and it would be wise of him to move on.
