Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and it seems that the Spanish La Liga giants could make a move to sign the Uruguayan international during the January transfer window as per reports via FourFourTwo.

Cavani has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and he will probably want to move on in search of regular first-team football.

Real Madrid currently have more of the best strikers in the world in Karim Benzema but Carlo Ancelotti is lacking in depth in the striking position and the signing of Cavani could prove to be a wise move.

Real Madrid will be hoping to win the Spanish league title and the Champions League this season and they will need a deep squad in order to compete on both fronts.

Cavani has proven his quality with top clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Napoli during his career and he has the pedigree to succeed at a club like Real Madrid as well.

The Uruguayan international is in the twilight years of his career but he’s still good enough to play at the highest level and he could be the ideal alternative to Karim Benzema in the short term.

The Manchester United striker is a proven goal scorer and he would add experience and leadership qualities to the dressing room as well.

Manchester United have other forwards like Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood at their disposal and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are prepared to sanction Cavani’s exit when the transfer window reopens in a few months.
