Zidane responds to Manchester United approach

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be under a lot of pressure after his side’s mediocre start to the campaign and the Red Devils have been linked with quite a few replacements recently.

It appears that former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is one of the candidates lined up to replace the Norwegian at Old Trafford.

According to Daily Express, Zidane has now responded to an approach from the Premier League club and he has informed Manchester United that he will be available to take over at the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League giants are willing to wait until the end of the season to appoint the Frenchman.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League table and they will need to improve immensely in order to finish in the Champions League places.

A club of Manchester United’s stature cannot afford to miss out on Champions League football next season and the club hierarchy might be forced to bring in an interim appointment if results do not improve quickly.

Woodward backs under-pressure Solskjaer

Meanwhile, the club’s vice-chairman Ed Woodward has revealed that the club hierarchy is fully committed to supporting Solskjaer as the club’s manager and the board is determined to deliver success under the Norwegian.

Manchester United have undoubtedly backed their manager heavily during the summer transfer window with top-class signings and it is time for the manager to produce the goods now.

Manchester United are keen to get through the season with the Norwegian at the helm despite the links to several managers. It remains to be seen whether their stance proves to be the correct one in the long run.

“While these financial results today demonstrate our resilience through the pandemic, our top priority is success on the pitch,” Woodward said via Daily Mail.

“The manager, players and everyone at the club are determined to achieve that objective.”
