Ronaldo third-best of 2020 in Europe; Messi not in Top-10

Cristiano Ronaldo named as the third-best clinical striker; Messi not included in the list. Sun Football listed its top 10 strikers of 2020.

Race for Golden Boot1

Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in the list of 10 best clinical strikers in Europe, posted by Sun Football while leaving Lionel Messi.

The Juventus ace made it to the third in the list, with Messi not making the cut.

Atalanta striker Luis Muriel tops the list while Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, Ciro Immobile are also included – which makes the omission of Messi quite surprising.

Although Ronaldo is in fine goal-scoring form this season, Messi is not far behind as he has bagged a total of 25 goals in La Liga. Whether it can be argued that the Argentine’s goal-scoring rate has dipped, it is important to note that he has recorded 21 assists in the league, breaking the La Liga’s record for highest assists in a single season.

The 33-year-old still won the La Liga golden boot despite a substandard season.

On the other hand, Ronaldo bagged a total of 32 goals in Serie A, wrapping up the season as the second-highest goal-scorer of the league behind Ciro Immobile – who is the recipient of European Golden Shoe this year.

Ronaldo will now look to carry his form to the Champions League as Juventus will take on.

Though this statistics (Minutes per Goal) takes care of the opportunity one has received, it may not be very effective. Some of the times, this statistics may fail to recognise overall contribution of a player for a longer period of time.

Two French strikers Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud are in 11th spot with 100 ‘Minutes per Goal’ record.

Two Premier League strikers Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane are in 16th and 25th spot respectively.
