Wales picked up a thrilling 3-2 win over Belarus in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers earlier today.

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale scored a sensational hat trick to hand his side a much-needed lifeline as far as World Cup qualification is concerned.

Wales needed to pick up a win heading into the game, and a defeat would have left them in a precarious position in Group E.

Today’s win takes them to 3rd in the table, a point behind the Czech Republic with a game in hand.

Gareth Bale handed his country the lead with a fifth-minute penalty, but Wales were pegged back twice in quick succession when Vitali Lisakovic and Pavel Sedco scored on the 29th and the 30th minute, respectively.

Wales came back into the game through Bale in the 69th minute, and the former Tottenham star scored the winner on the 93rd minute.

Bale has had a mixed time at the club and international level over the past two years, but he managed to showcase his world-class talent today.

Initially, the 32-year-old struggled to hold down regular game time under the former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. He was then loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur to get some first-team experience and work on his match fitness.

Bale returned to the Premier League and impressed with Tottenham, and he has now been handed a Real Madrid lifeline by Carlo Ancelotti.

The Welsh international has been a match-winner throughout his career, and Ancelotti will be delighted to see that the 32-year-old is slowly getting back to his best.
