Liverpool

Founded In :3 June 1892

Nick Name: The Reds

Slogan: You Will Never Walk Alone( YNWA)

Ground: Anfield(Capacity- 53,394)

Owners: Fenway Sports Group

Following a dispute over the Everton club ground at Anfield, Liverpool F.C. was founded in 1892. Liverpool developed themselves as a professional football club while Everton relocated in 1892.

Liverpool to its first league title in 1901 and repeated their glory by winning it again in 1906. Liverpool reached its first FA Cup Final in 1914 but lost 1–0 to Burnley. In 1950, Liverpool was defeated in the Cup Final for the second time, this time by Arsenal.

In 1953-54, the club was relegated to the second division but was promoted back to the first division in 1962. Soon again, they won it for the first time in 17 years in 1964.

Liverpool won their first UEFA Cup in 1973-74. In 1977 the club retained the league title and also secured their second UEFA Cup. The club registered their recent league victory in 2019-20 and UCL for the same year.

Liverpool is a prominent club from England that have housed a large number of legendary players. Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Graeme Souness, Jamie Carragher, the list just goes on.

Ian Callaghan holds the record of most appearances(857) for the club, while Ian Rush is the top goalscorer across all competitions with 346 goals in 660 appearances. Bruce Grobbelaar has 267 clean sheets in 627 appearances, which is the club record.

When Manchester United and Liverpool face each other, it is referred to as a North-West derby. It is the most critical sporting event of the year and the most-watched competition, surpassing the El Classico and the UCL final. Both the teams have seen their fair share of win, and this makes the match more nail-biting for the fans. Liverpool won 3-1 against United in the last fixture.

The Merseyside Derby is a match between Everton and Liverpool. The rivalry between the two clubs dates back to 1892 when Liverpool was established. Since that time, both clubs have become bitter rivals. Even though Liverpool has a greater number of wins statistically, there is no end to the fan debate. In the most recent game, Everton triumphed 2-0.
