Leon Goretzka-Bayern Munich

The German midfielder has reportedly committed his future to Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has reportedly agreed to a new contract, thus committing his future to the Bundesliga champions.

There were speculations regarding his future at Allianz Arena, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2022.

Various reports suggested that Manchester United were keen to prise Goretzka away from Bundesliga to strengthen their midfield.

Bavarians president Herbert Hainer also said that the club wouldn’t succumb to Gortezka’s demands during the contract talks.

However, as it turns out, the 26-year-old is set to stay put at Allianz Arena in a blow to the Red Devils.

As far as the contract details go, Goretzka has agreed to extend his stay until 2026 and will earn between 12 and 15m euros per year.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann was optimistic regarding Goretzka’s situation from the start, insisting on the midfielder’s importance to the squad.

“Of course, I have talked to him about my plans for him. I’ve told him I’d be happy if he extended, and I’m also confident.

“There are several topics involved when it comes to discussing a contract extension.

“I’ll continue to focus on the sports side of things and show him he can be one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has potential to get even better.”

The former Schalke man played the entire ninety minutes alongside his midfield partner Joshua Kimmich in both of Bayern’s games against Gladbach and Dortmund.
