Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford for months now.

The French international is nearing the end of his contract at Old Trafford, and he is set to move on as a free agent at the end of this season.

According to a report via DailyMailReal Madrid were very interested in securing the Frenchman’s services, but the Spanish giants have now performed a U-turn on their transfer stance.

Apparently, Real Madrid feared that signing Pogba could halt the development of talented young players like Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.

It will be interesting to see if Pogba’s others suitors are willing to step up and secure his services in the summer now.

The midfielder has been linked with the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as well.

Pogba has been out of action since November after picking up an injury on international duty. It will be interesting to see if he can return strongly and help Manchester United finish the season on a positive note.

Earlier this season, interim manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Manchester United are not concerned about the midfielder’s future right now. They are more interested in nursing him back to health and getting him back in action soon.

There have been rumours of a potential contract extension in recent months as well, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United can convince the midfielder to sign a new deal at Old Trafford if the likes of Real Madrid decide to pull out of the move eventually.
