Carlo Ancelotti reveals why he is obsessed with James Rodriguez

Carlo Ancelotti has heaped praise on the Everton midfielder James Rodriguez earlier.

The 28-year-old Colombian midfielder signed for Everton on a permanent deal earlier this summer and he has been fantastic for the Premier League side in the two games he has played for them so far.

Everybody knew the talent the Colombian has, but it’s Ancelotti who betted on James in quest of top honours for Everton. The player did not disappoint his manager who betted big on him. He responded with ‘Man of the Match’ performance after Premier League arrival.

Rodriguez helped Everton beat West Brom yesterday and he managed to score a goal and set up another for his side.

Everton needed a technically gifted creator in the final third this season and the signing of James Rodriguez has proven to be a superb investment so far.

Ancelotti had worked with the player at Real Madrid and Byron Munich and he was keen to bring him to Goodison Park.

The Italian revealed that he had seen Rodriguez’s world-class talent at Real Madrid and he had no doubt that he the midfielder could be a useful option for Everton.

The Italian manager said: “He scored his first goal in the Premier League, this is the most important part. It was the key goal of the game. He scored a fantastic goal and a fantastic assist in the second half. He is comfortable with the team and everything is OK. In this moment he is using his quality. This is the quality I saw at Madrid and the same quality I saw at Bayern [Munich]. The quality of James makes him play easy. His football is not so complicated because when he gets space he likes to use his quality on passes and when he has no space and is under pressure he tries to play simple. This is what every player has to do: use quality when there is space and play simple when there is no space.”

It will be interesting to see if Rodriguez can build on his impressive start to life at Everton and help the Merseyside outfit challenge for a European spot this season.
