Man United 2-0 Palace: de Gea, Rashford, Martial shine

Everton 1-1 Man United - Bruno saved Unied after de Gea gaffe

Manchester United picked up a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League earlier.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial ensured a comfortable win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The Red Devils will be pleased with the performance as well and they will now concentrate on their next outing against West Ham. Manchester United will be hoping to cement their place in next season’s Champions league and they must look to win all of their remaining games just to be safe.

Marcus Rashford gave Manchester United the lead today during the first half stoppage time and then Martial doubled their advantage on the 78th minute.

Crystal Palace did score once through Ayew but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Apart from the instance, David de Gea was near perfect between the post. He made a good early save and had to vigilantly denied Luka Milivojevic’s free-kick around his upright. He also saved Zaha’s attempts several times, to keep a clean-sheet today.

The win leaves Manchester United in fifth on 62 points, behind Leicester by a goal difference of three. On the other hand, Crystal Palace are 14th on 42 points after six consecutive losses.

Roy Hodgson’s men came into this game as massive underdogs and their loss is hardly a surprise. However, the fans would have expected more of a fight from their players. Palace have been lackluster in their approach for a while now and they were rightfully punished.

Meanwhile, United continued their impressive form since the turn of the year and they kept the pressure on fourth-placed Leicester City with another win.

It will be interesting to see if the Foxes can keep their calm and finish in the top four eventually.
