Bayern and Lewandowski showed injury-hit Chelsea no mercy

Bayern Munich picked up a 4-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League round-of-16 match in Allianz Arena earlier today.

Goals from Lewandowski, Perisic and Tolisso sealed a comfortable home win for the German champions.

With Lewandowski in top form, the German outfit will be hoping to go all the way in the Champions League this year.

The Polish striker scored twice and set up two more goals for his team today. He was arguably the best player on the pitch today.

Chelsea managed to get back into the game through Tammy Abraham right before the half time but they could not build on it.  The Blues struggled with the German side’s intensity and they were evidently outplayed by Bundesliga champion.

Frank Lampard will be disappointed with his team’s defensive performance tonight. Chelsea have conceded seven goals on aggregate and they should have done a lot better.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can strengthen their defence significantly this summer. They have already spent big money on improving their attack and they will have to sort out their back four now.
Lampard cannot hope to challenge for the big trophies with the defence like that next season.

It will be interesting to see how Chelsea bounce back next season.
They have already qualified for the Champions League and they will have to make sure that they have a squad capable of challenging the European elite next season.
