Messi set to return against Man City

Lionel Messi has returned to training ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash against Manchester City. It remains to be seen whether Mauricio Pochettino names the 34-year-old in his starting lineup tomorrow.

The Argentine international was sidelined after picking up an injury against Lyon, and his return could not have been timed any better.

Despite not being at his best this season, a player of his calibre could make a difference at any time, and PSG will need his qualities and experience against a top-class team like Manchester City.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that the player will be in the squad tomorrow, but he is yet to decide on the starting eleven.

“Leo is in a very good way. I think he will be in the squad tomorrow, but I still haven’t decided on the starting XI,” he said to Guardian. “We will confirm the starting XI tomorrow.”

Guardiola wary of PSG trio

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on the PSG attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The former Barcelona manager has worked with Messi during their time together at the Catalan club, and he knows about the Argentine qualities all too well.

The Spaniard has revealed that he does not know how to stop the PSG trio when the two sides meet in France on Tuesday.

All three players are world-class individuals, and if they can strike an understanding between themselves, it could be impossible to stop them.

“I don’t know,” Guardiola said (via ESPN). “This amount of quality, I don’t know what we should do to stop them, honestly.

“They’re so good. This amount of talent altogether, to control it is so difficult.”
