The Argentine’s contract at the Nou Camp expires this summer.

Lionel Messi‘s exit speculations have been fuelled after Barcelona slipped up in the La Liga title race in recent weeks.

According to a new report from Qatar-based journalist Mohammed Al Kaabi, the Argentine star has set his sights on joining PSG once he becomes a free agent next month.

Les Parisiens continue to be the long-term admirers of Messi. It has been reported recently that the French capital club would be the only possible destination if he were to leave Barca this summer.

PSG ace Neymar might have played a key role in persuading the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to Ligue 1. Neymar, who recently vowed his future to PSG by penning a new deal, has previously stated his desire to reunite with Messi, with whom he had formed a great partnership on and off the field during his time at Barca.

However, there are contrasting reports about Messi’s supposed commitment to the Catalan club despite failing in the Champions League and La Liga this season.

Messi appears to have been convinced with president Joan Laporta’s new project, which could bring Barca back to their heydays.

The Argentine playmaker was the standout in an otherwise dull season for the Blaugrana, racking up 30 goals and is poised to win the La Liga’s top-scorer award for the umpteenth time.

Letting Messi leave without finding an opt replacement – which is indeed an impossible task – would be a huge blunder from the Catalan club as the Argentine continues to be their only source of creativity and scoring goals.
