Tottenham defeat changed Bruno Fernandes’ perception on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Bruno Fernandes-Manchester United

Both are said to have had a fall out after the Old Trafford horror show

From Paul Pogba flaunting about his Real Madrid dreams to Paul Scholes’ dig at Anthony Martial, the defeat against Tottenham at Old Trafford has taken a toll on Manchester United. Another ramification worth mentioning is the reported fall out between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes despite scoring the first goal in the 6-1 defeat against Spurs, he was the one who got first taken off by Solskjaer at the half-time break. It has been reported that the Portuguese midfielder vented his frustrations over Solskjaer’s tactics, which eventually led to his substitution.

“He [Bruno] was shouting ‘we are supposed to be Man United, this shouldn’t be happening’ and that he was questioning Solskjaer’s tactics.
“That was one of the things contributed to him being replaced by Fred.”

Duncan Castles, the famous Sports Journalist, also said Solskjaer’s inability has made Fernandes change his perception, like many other top players.

“There is a sense from top-level players who have had experience with some of the best coaches in the world that he [Solskjaer] is not world class or top of his field.
“And therefore, the club is being held back by that and the worry for him is that feeling has now spread to arguably the best player in the team – Bruno Fernandes.”

Fernandes is also said to be unhappy with the summer transfer activities, with United missing out on targets like Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele.

The Portuguese playmaker’s feelings are understandable as he was United’s best player in the second half of the last season, helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Elsewhere, Solskjaer has been under pressure of late after the worst start to this season, losing two of the three Premier League fixtures. The Norwegian could have been partly successful post Jose Mourinho’s departure, but there are looming doubts whether he is the right choice for the Red Devils this season moving forward.

Ed Woodward is keeping an eye on Mauricio Pochettino to replace Solskjaer if the losing streak persists this season.

Pochettino has been on hiatus after he was stripped off his managerial job at Spurs at the end of the last year.

The Argentine manager has previously spoken about his next destination, stating that a return to the Premier League could be possible. Pochettino was tipped to join Juventus before Andrea Pirlo became the head coach to replace Maurizio Sarri.

“I still think the Premier League is the best league in the world. We enjoy it a lot. Of course, it’s one of the options. Of course, it can be my priority but I am not closed to move to a different country.”
