The highly-rated French midfielder is reportedly close to sealing a transfer to PSG.

PSG are reportedly in pole position to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga ahead of Manchester United.

According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on a summer move worth 25m pounds for Camavinga.

Rennes have decided to cash in on their prized asset as they don’t want him to leave for free when his contract expires next summer.

The 18-year-old’s exit links emerged after reports stated that he opted against signing a new deal with Rennes.

Bruno Genesio, Rennes manager, had earlier stated that Camavinga would have his future sorted out soon.

“We have already stressed several times that we cannot afford to remain in this situation concerning an international player like him.

“It’s part of a career to have important decisions to make, he has a very important one (decision) to make for his future, and we at the club also have our interests to defend.

I hope we find a solution that everyone is satisfied with.”

The reports come as a blow for both Manchester United and Real Madrid, who had been showing interest in the French prodigy all along.

United identified Camavinga as an alternative to Paul Pogba should he leave Old Trafford this summer. However, the French World Cup winner is likely to stay at Man Utd this season.

Ligue 1 side have made outstanding business in the transfer window so far -acquiring the likes of Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Lionel Messi. Camavinga would be their sixth signing.

Camavinga’s possible addition could end Les Parisiens’ pursuit of Pogba, who was heavily linked with a move to Parc des Princes before Messi’s arrival halted the interest.
