Newcastle United have been tipped to invest heavily into the playing squad after their £300 million Saudi takeover.
According to reports via the Sun, the Premier League side are looking to bring in top-class players during the January transfer window and they have already identified four Manchester United players as potential targets.
Apparently, the likes of Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly are on Newcastle’s radar and it will be interesting to see if they can convince Manchester United to part with these players when the winter transfer window opens.
Van de Beek has barely played for Manchester United since his move from Ajax and the Dutchman needs to play regularly in order to regain his confidence and sharpness. Furthermore, he needs to play more often in order to force his way into the Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup.
A move to Newcastle would be ideal for the player at this stage of his career.
Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard is in a similar situation. The England international is currently a squad option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he needs to play regularly in order to cement his place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
Lingard was on loan at West Ham last season and he was exceptional for the Hammers. He could prove to be a really handy signing for the magpies.
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani has pushed Anthony Martial down the pecking order at Old Trafford and the Frenchman needs to move on if he wants to fulfil his potential.
Newcastle need to add more goals to their side and Martial could partner the likes of Callum Wilson in the attack.
Finally, Eric Bailly is no longer a key starter for Manchester United after the arrival of Raphael Varane and the former Villarreal star would be a quality addition to the Newcastle back four alongside the likes of Jamaal Lascelles.
