Manchester United picked up a thrilling 2-1 away win against West Ham in the Premier League after Jesse Lingard scored a late winner.

The hosts took the lead through Said Benrahama but only to be cancelled out by Cristiano Ronaldo, who was on target for Man Utd for the third consecutive game.

The game looked evenly poised in the second half but Jesse Lingard stunned the home side with a brilliant goal in the eleventh hour.

However, the job was only half done for the Red Devils as they conceded a penalty in the stoppage time. But Mark Noble couldn’t capitalise on the chance as David de Gea denied him from the spot, thus allowing the Red Devils to snatch three points.

Here are the talking points from the game.

Ronaldo continues his scoring run for the Red Devils

Cristiano Ronaldo has made an instant impact since joining the Red Devils. He scored a brace in his first game against Newcastle United and was also on target in the 2-1 loss against Young Boys in the Champions League. Today’s strike marked his third consecutive goal in a row and his intelligence inside the penalty box is brilliant. Despite not seeing much of the ball for the larger parts of the game, the Portuguese ace is a constant menace to the defenders inside the box due to his positioning and trickery.

Lingard’s emphatic comeback after Young Boys nightmare

Jesse Lingard received unwanted criticism for his gaffe against Young Boys in the Champions League earlier this week, which saw the Red Devils suffer a disappointing defeat. Today the 28-year-old redeemed with a spectacular strike against the club where he enjoyed a productive loan spell last term. Lingard has made a great start to the season, racking up 2 goals in 3 league appearances so far. Despite not being a preferred starter for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the English star is making a big impact as a substitute.

Noble with a crucial penalty miss

The Hammers were looking to build on their impressive win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League and they nearly put on an industrious display against Man Utd. However, their chances to share the spoils went down the drain after Mark Noble missed a crucial penalty in injury time. The Hammers veteran had just come off the bench and was straightaway given the penalty-taking duties due to his impeccable record from the spot over the years. However, things didn’t pan out in West Ham’s way. De Gea’s save also should not be taken for granted as the Spaniard made his first penalty in around seven years.
