Sassuolo 1-2 AC Milan: Rafael Leao scored the fastest goal in Serie A history

AC Milan continued their impressive start to the 2020/21 season with a win at Sassuolo, thanks to two first half goals from Rafael Leao and Hakan Calhanoglu.

The league leaders picked up their ninth win of the season on Sunday to bring their season’s tally to 31 points, one point ahead of Inter Milan in second place.

Stefano Pioli’s side who were without veteran striker Ibrahimovic came out flying from the first whistle. Milan went ahead in six seconds through Portuguese striker Rafael Leao. The forward scored his side’s first in astonishing fashion after Hakan Calhanoglu defense splitting pass straight from the kickoff had found him.

The which was scored in 6.2 seconds became the fastest goal in Serie A history.

Milan scored again in the ninth minute through Hakan Calhanoglu, but VAR cancelled the goal for offside. 

However, the visitors had their second for the day in the 26th minute when 
Theo Hernandez fed Alexis Saelemaekers with a nice pass inside the box to score past Andrea Consigli.

The hosts had an opportunity to half the deficit in the 39th minute but Hamed Traore  drive from the edge of the box, went inches of the right post.
After the restart, the visitors continued to press for a goal but were unable to get past Gianluigi Donnarumma until the 89th minute through Domenico Berardi  free-kick.
The win sees Milan continue their unbeaten start to the season while Sassuolo remain in 6th position with the result.

The home team play Sampdoria next while Milan take on Lazio on Wednesday.
