Switzerland, who will commence their Euro 2020 campaign against Wales next weekend, have sorted out their 26-man squad list.

The Swiss have been drawn in Group A that contains Italy, Wales and Turkey.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka will lead the troops while Denis Zakaria and Manuel Akanji have also made it to the squad.

Xhaka will look to revive his form after enduring a lacklustre season with Arsenal. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to AS Roma, with their new manager Jose Mourino said to be keen on his services.

Borussia Monchengladbach’s Zakaria will be another key cog in the Swiss midfield as he has been cited as one of the exciting defensive midfielders in the Bundesliga.

Besides Zakaria, three other players have made it to the final squad: Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi and Breel Embolo. Sommer is expected to be the first choice goalkeeper. Manager Vladimir Petkovic has also summoned Yvon Mvogo and Jonas Omlin.

Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji will lead the backline alongside Magpies centre-back Fabian Schaer.

Haris Seferovic, who will be the ideal striker for Swiss, is coming off an excellent season at Benfica, where he ended up as Portuguese top-flight’s second most goal-scorer (22 goals).

Xherdan Shaqiri will take a lot of responsibility with his playmaking abilities although he has been down the pecking order of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
